Enterprise Task 5
1.
My main strength I feel is logo
design and branding. I have been producing professional logos since my A-levels
and is something I have always enjoyed. I am comfortable and creative in this
sector. I feel I would be attractive to potential clients with my skills in
logo design as it is the foundation of
the companies face and a powerful logo can go a long way.
2.
I am becoming more aware of the
importance of colour and in my free time exploring colour more as I have learnt
the importance of colour in design. I am hoping I become better at colour now I
am putting the time in and will understand how colours are printed compared to
what they are on screen.
3.
Something else I am getting
into is illustration. I haven’t really done any drawing leaving high school so
I bought myself a graphic tablet and am currently teaching myself the
fundamentals of illustration and illustrated type. This will help me get an
edge over designers which rely on computerized type and will hopefully make my
work more appealing.
4.
I have an interest in
publication design and layout. Not explored it too much as of now but I feel I
have potential to produce some attractive layouts if I decide to peruse it.
There is a great deal I would still like to learn within this subject and I am
not going to rule out the possibilities of perusing this.
5.
I am always keeping up to date
with current trends in design if it’s through blogs, books, magazines and the Internet.
This helps with understanding what designers are doing and what clients are looking
for.
6.
I work well as team and also as
an individual. I am able to input my ideas into a group and voice my opinion
comfortably.
7.
I am confident on the adobe
software. I am able to use Indesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and even
AfterEffects to a high standard. This would make me appealing to both clients
and employers as I can cover all media rages in my work so am not confined to
only screen, print or still image.
8.
I am reliable I have an almost
perfect attendance thought school to foundation and then university. I don’t
take days of for petty reasons like a cold never have and I never will. This
will make me attractive to potential employers as they will see how committed I
am and have been thought my life.
9.
I am passionate about what I do
I take pride in my work and strive for perfection. I wouldn’t like to produce
something I wouldn’t use for own business as I am responsible for how a company
or client has been portrayed so producing something I feel doesn’t work is not I’m
the cards. It’s my reputation on the line so I would work to the best of my
ability.

Enterprise Task 4
My favorite graphic design company has been
123Klan since I was about 16 and have admired there work ever since. As I have
matured as a designer myself I have moved away from the style of this firm. I still
appreciate their design and I still feel they are one of the best but I know I
wouldn’t be able to work in their institution comfortably. There work is very
illustrative and has a huge graffiti influence. When I was younger this would
have been my ideal job but it been based in France isn’t the main issue it’s
the contrasting styles.
My strengths are a good knowledge of both
software and printing techniques. My main skill would be ideas based I am very
capable of thinking outside of the box and producing my ideas quickly and
effectively.
My weakness is becoming obsessed with
single projects. When I really enjoy a brief my other work generally takes a
back seat until I complete the most enjoyable brief. Taking a positive out of
that I suppose the better brief get done to a nice and high standard.
Opportunities I have experienced creating
logos for a few companies since I was in GCSE so I have produced about 6 now. I
have won a logo competition for a £100 cash prize 2 years ago. Currently I am
producing promotional work for some DJ’s making logos, posters and flyers on a
regular basis.
My current education at Leeds college
prepares me much more for the working world compared to most universities so that
sets me ahead of the majority. I feel I would be a great asset to a design
agency as I work well in a team and also independently. I like to think I am
forward thinking and cleaver in the way I execute my work.

Enterprise Task 3
TASK 3 - How will I promote myself ?
The Majority of potential customers will
use the Internet to find designers they want their information given to them on
a plate. It’s all about speed of delivery.
To promote myself to potential customers
would be mainly through the web. They want to see an online portfolio of what
sort of work you produce to see if you’re right for the job.
Graphic conventions are a great way to meet
employers and customers. Your work is displayed and a high traffic of people
will view it. This is a great way to network so having a business card or
something to hand to everyone is great way to get your name out there.
Thing I would make sure in saying is place
of education due to its high reputation within graphics and also my style of design
and also things I’m interested in would give my audience a nice quick
representation of what kind of designer I am.
Things such as viral adds or a controversial
piece of design now more than ever attracts a great deal of attention and many
companies are using these methods of adverting to get there brand name out of
there. A new and fresh way to advertise which is getting a lot of attention at
the moment.
Communicating to a potential client I wouldn’t
use complex graphical lingo I would keep it simple making them feel more intelligent
and keep it short and sweet would want them to think I’m boring and very big
headed.

Evaluation
I have developed my knowledge of print greatly already this year. I am more understanding of colour matching, print techniques and finishes which as been very helpful in pushing my designs forward in the sense of professionalism. I have also expanded my design knowledge and the processes used for different printing by looking at specific printing methods and visiting professional printers. I would of liked to explore more printing methods and I plan in the future to look extensively in increasing my skills further.
|
My methods of design have become more towards colour matching my work using pantone to create consistency in my work. My knowledge of the printers in the mac suits and knowing what stocks can be put thought the printer and how the ink will sit on the paper has been very helpful in keeping the costs down and meant I could avoid just using the digital printing room.
|
The strengths in my work is the inventiveness of the packaging design and doing as much research around the subject relaxing as I could. Been informed made it possible to apply this to my designs such as using magnets not using fiddly flaps etc. I am happy with the logo design and went through about a million design ideas to reach something I was happy with. I feel like I have managed my time more efficiently but there is stillroom for improvement.
|
|
My weaknesses are working mainly on screen. I know I can draw I enjoy drawing but I just didn’t do as much as I would of like to. I also feel I could of pushed my design further and I’m really annoyed that I didn’t. Something I would of like to do is develop my packaging more I just needed more time with the magnets so I could use them to there maximum efficiency and its turn out to be a bit shabby.
|
Push my design further. I know I can I have the tools to do this and I would be more satisfied with my work if I did so.
Look into more print finishes. I want to be able to utilise all the facilities around me to add a professional finish to my work.
Manage my time more efficiently. I feel I am improving with every brief but there is still much more room for improvement.
Blog more often!
Explore more into stocks and printers to get the most out of my work
